PLEASE NOTE: This option for borders is experimental. If you use this option and find any issues let us know in the Sinden Lightgun discord server.
Riva Tuner Statistics Server (RTSS) is a piece of software used by other apps (for example MSI Afterburner) to display game information like FPS, GPU and CPU usage and temperatures, etc, on top of the game window.
We can also use it to display borders for the Sinden Lightgun, and this solution works with 99% of games and emulators just by having RTSS running in the background.
Prerequisites
If you have MSI Afterburner and you use it currently to show FPS/GPU usage/etc, you need to disable all the "Show in On-screen Display" toggles in the Monitoring tab of the settings.
How to use RTSS for Sinden Borders
- Download Rivatuner Statistics Server 7.3.3 Final form Guru3D.
- Unzip and install ( If the installation says Server is currently active, you already have RTSS).
- Download the RTSS overlay pack (beta).
- Extract the Overlay pack. You will see a few PNG and OVL files.
- Open the Overlays folder. The default path is: C:\Program File (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\Plugins\Client\Overlays .
- Copy the RTSS Overlay pack PNG and OVL files here. You will need Administrator rights to copy files to this folder..
- Start Rivatuner Statistics Server from the Windows Start Menu.
- Click on the Rivatuner icon in the systray (bottom right of the screen) to open RTSS.
- Click the blue Setup button.
- Go to the Plugins tab and enable both HotkeyHandler.dll and OverlayEditor.dll checkmarks.
- Click on OverlayEditor.dll and then the Setup button.
- In the Layouts menu, select the Load option. Choose the OVL matching your screen resolution and aspect ratio, for example 16-9-1920x1080.ovl for 16:9 ratio 1920x1080 resolution, and click Open.
- Close the editor window.
- Click HotkeyHandler.dll and then the Setup button.
- Click on None next to Toggle On-Screen Display and select a hotkey for your border, for example CTRL+F7. Click on OK, and OK again.
- Open your game and press the hotkey you selected in the previous step, e.g. CTRL+F7, to show and hide the border
- If you need a different resolution or aspect ratio, repeat steps 11 to 13
How to configure hotkeys for different border settings
- Open RTSS and click Setup.
- In the Plugins tab, click HotkeyHandler.dll and then Setup.
- Click Configure next to Overlay editor plugin.
- Click on the ... next to Programable overlay modifier 1.
- Click on the Preset dropdown and choose Load overlay.
- Change the description (e.g. Load 16:9 border).
- In the Parameters field, paste the name of the overlay you want to use (e.g. 16-9-1920x1080.ovl).
- Press OK.
- Click on None next to Programable overlay modifier 1 and press your desired hotkey for this border (e.g. CTRL+SHIFT+F7).
- Repeat steps 4 to 9 to assign other presets to Modifier 2, 3 and 4, as required.
- Press OK to close the window, and OK twice more to exit the settings.
- Open your game, press your RTSS toggle hotkey to show the border, and then the preset hotkeys to change presets (preset hotkeys won't work until you enable the border)
